DETAILS:

618 S Lloyd Canyon Dr, Pine Valley, UT 84781

3 bedroom / 2 bathroom cabin with central AC on the ground floor and individually controlled AC units upstairs. One bathroom is located on each floor. The master bedroom is on the ground floor. Upstairs features two bedrooms—one with two queen beds and the other with two twin beds. The TV is located downstairs. The finished basement includes an extra refrigerator, deep freezer, and washer and dryer. Utilities include hot water, water softener, electricity, generator backup, Internet, and a septic system.

Entrance

You will be provided with a key code for entry.

Grill

The grill is connected to a large propane tank.

Deck

All decks are covered and furnished with chairs. The round ottomans (poofs) can also be used outdoors. Due to strong winds, outdoor furniture may need to be secured to prevent damage.

HVAC

Main floor heating and AC are controlled by the thermostat in the hallway near the kitchen and bathroom. Upstairs units are operated using wall-mounted remote controls.

Coffee Machine

The Jura WE6 uses whole coffee beans in the top hopper and offers multiple brew sizes (1 oz, 2 oz, 3.5 oz, and a 6 oz specialty option). Refill the water tank on the left side using tap water. If the machine says “Empty Grounds,” pull out the center tray, empty it into the trash, rinse, and reinsert. Contact us if you encounter any issues.

Water

The tap water is excellent and also supplies the refrigerator’s ice maker.

Trash

Each trash can has replacement liners stored in the bottom. For the larger cans, do not discard the plastic rim that holds the liner in place. Trash should be taken to the Pine Valley Trash area at mile marker 7. Do not leave trash outside, as it may attract wildlife.

Roll-Up Blinds

All windows have roll-up blinds for privacy.

Wildlife

From June through October, deer are frequently seen. A friendly doe named Juniper often visits and will come close for food. Healthy options include apples, bananas (with peel), grapes, watermelon (even the rind), berries, lettuce, carrots, and snap peas. Leftover produce can be placed in the trough at the end of the driveway near the generator. Other wildlife includes golden eagles, wild turkeys, and more.

TV & Audio

Apple TV is available for streaming. A Sonos speaker system is connected and can stream music directly from your phone.

Cell Signal

Cell service is generally poor. Before arriving, set your phone to allow Wi-Fi calling.

Internet

Starlink is the provider. The Wi-Fi network available at this and the neighboring cabin is named TheWhiteCabin, with password PineValley2019.

Generator

The generator automatically exercises every Friday afternoon. If there’s a power outage, it will turn on automatically and power the HVAC system and refrigerator.

Hummingbird Feeder

Mix 1/4 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water to refill the feeder.

Shed

The shed features a trundle bed, heating and AC (remote-controlled), and serves well as a private office or meeting space. A dedicated router ensures strong Internet connectivity.

SIGHTSEEING

(you can go multiple times to each area!)

Zion National Park

Zion National Park: This is 1 hour and 13 minutes from you. Probably the shuttles will be running for the main canyon of Zion. There may be a lot of people on the shuttles, so be prepared. But, the town Springdale is quaint, and the East side of Zion has no limitations. On the East site, here are some recommended hikes.

East Side Hikes:

  1. The best hike is Canyon Overlook. It is easy to do, and has everything. For best lighting and pictures, I recommend doing it at or before noon.
  2. Drive further on the drive and there is a pull off with a split rail. Park there, and cross the road. Head back towards a small overpass, and hike down to it. Proceed right along the riverbed and after 1000 ft, on your left, you will see petroglyphs. Easy hike to see petroglyphs.
  3. Anywhere on the East Side you can actually pull over and walk around. What we will look for are the big-horned sheep that hang out around there. So fun to watch.

Food: On the way out from Pine Valley to Zion, there is a River Rock Roasting Company in LaVerkin, UT, that is great. It has scones that remind me of Cranberry’s scones in Brooklyn. Most people like the coffee (I don’t, but I am super picky). Lots of good options there, like small quiche. For dinner, I recommend Oscar’s. It is a local favorite that has great burgers, sweet potato fries, salads, Mexican food, ribs, and so forth.

Bryce Canyon

2 hours and 39 minutes away, but worth every minute. There are about four areas to pull into and take a small walk to see the sites.

Navajo Loop at Sunset Point: This is about a 2 hour hike, and is a real hike. But it is one of my most favorite hikes every. But it will be hot, even at that high elevation.

Food: Not a lot of eateries around there, so best is to finish up and drive to Cedar City, about an hour away, and eat at Centro’s which is an excellent pizzeria, with wine/beer, excellent salads….just really good. If we time it right, we can book Pizza for after my SCE as I am attending in Cedar City. So I recommend doing Bryce on 4/10 or 4/11 so I can feed you!

Snow Canyon State Park

29 minutes away. I think you pay $10 on a card when you enter, per vehicle. There is lots to see and do here. Some easy hikes, and just getting on some of the petrified dunes is fun.

Red Cliffs Recreational Area

1 hour away. $5 or so per vehicle. Very much like Zion National Park. May be parts to walk through water, or it may be dry by then. Absolutely gorgeous red rock canyon you are walking through.

Pine Valley Recreational Area

3.3 miles away. Easy to bike ride to. Nice walking path through the forest.

Pine Valley Reservoir

In the recreational area. Has paved pathways to walk around the reservoir.

Pioneer Park (Dixie Rock)

Free, 44 minutes away, and has an outdoor desert garden. You can walk wherever you want, and it is like walking on Mars.
